Welcome to the website of David Onuma's Combined Fighting Systems.
Whilst in the making perhaps since 1983, CFS in its current form materialised in 1996 with major influences on the group's training methodology and approach coming from Guro Bob Breen and Guro Terry Barnett
The main purpose of the site is to provide information and assistance to anyone interested in or connected to CFS.
CFS is not about size, but quality.
The group is often referred to as a family because of it's lack of ego and politics, but an abundance of good training, fun and unity.

David Onuma is both a magnificent person and a great teacher. In teaching for nearly forty years I’ve had some great students and a few really outstanding ones like David. He is the ONLY person I’ve graded to Full Instructor!!.
Great teachers are very rare and David is definitely one of those. He has a huge talent plus a razor sharp mind allied to a passion for life, and martial arts in particular, which he conveys to all his students. His classes at my Academy are some of the most crowded, despite being on a Friday night – known as ‘the nightmare shift’.
It’s been my pleasure to have him firstly as a very close friend and advisor for many years, and secondly as my training partner in seminars all over the World. He is the one who most closely knows and understands my personal style and approach and who’s stimulated me to constant improvement.
He continues to study and compete thus developing his own personal, methodical, and highly functional approach. He passes on this knowledge and passion to all his students in an easy manner that belies his outstanding level.
Studying and training together has above all been fun and hugely enjoyable for both of us.
